This All Star Kansas City Jazz Camp is a multi-year award winner of DownBeat Magazine's prestigious student music awards!
Presented by Jim Mair and the Kansas City Jazz Alliance, in partnership with REW Music.
Jim Mair's jazz camps are one week-long summer day camps, brought to you by the Kansas City Jazz Alliance, partnering with REW Music. The camps focus on jazz improvisation skills in a standard large ensemble “big band” setting, with standard big band instrumentation. Director Jim Mair blends an academic perspective with years of “in the trenches” expertise.
Jim Mair is the former Director of Instrumental Music, Jazz Studies and Woodwinds at Kansas City Kansas Community College, in addition to being voted as Kansas City's Favorite Saxophonist by JAM Magazine readers in 2022.

The Kansas City Jazz Camp is comprised of 2 separate ensembles:
Instrumentation for each jazz band is limited to:
5 saxophones
4 each: trombones, trumpets
2 percussionists
2 bass players
2 guitar
2 piano
